The Financial Counselling service assists people who are in financial hardship to better manage their finances. The Utilities Literacy program assists people who are experiencing difficulties with utility bills to improve their understanding and knowledge of utility services, manage their utilities payments and/or reduce their consumption.


Financial counsellors will provide information, support and advocacy to assist people who are in financial difficulty. They will promote the service through community networks, and support individual clients to better manage their finances. When providing Utilities Literacy support, intensive case management will be delivered through individual client appointments, home energy assessments and advocacy with utilities companies.


You will:

  • have empathy for people experiencing financial hardship
  • have knowledge of money management practices
  • have experience in advocating for clients
  • have experience in the delivery of community education sessions

It is essential for you to have: 

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Diploma of Community Service (Financial Counselling)
  • Relevant experience, in a paid or voluntary capacity will be highly regarded

Travel across the service delivery area is required and you may also need to be available for some out of hours work.
