The Disability & Participation Team provides a suite of services which includes Personal Helpers & Mentors Program, Supported Independent Living Program and Accommodation Support Program. These programs provide case management, community support and social inclusion for people with a mental illness or a disability to enable them to reach their full potential.   


You will support and mentor clients to achieve their goals which may include making and attending appointments, managing daily tasks, facilitating transport, securing stable housing and improving personal or vocational skills.  You will also assist clients to prepare and access the support available through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).


You will:

  • Identify client goals and strengths and help them to address issues in their lives that have been identified as barriers
  • Provide positive role modelling and direction
  • Advocate and support clients to access services
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with Disability SA, Community Mental Health Team and other community services
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills

It is essential for you to have: 

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Certificate 4 Mental Health (or working towards one)

You may also need to be available for some out of hours work and travel between UCWCSA sites or interstate as required.
