ABOUT THE ROLE

Ethnic Link Services is funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to assist frail aged and their carers from a culturally and linguistically diverse background to remain living at home.  Located in Alberton, we require a competent professional with the following skills and experience that enjoys working in a busy environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating a Social Group in the Arabic language
  • Assisting with assessments of client needs
  • Providing information to clients about support services and advocating for them as required
  • Providing language assistance
  • Working with support services and liaising with service providing organisations
  • Accompanying clients to appointments

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
  • At least 3 years experience in Community Services and/or Aged Care
  • Experience working with social support groups
  • Understanding of the needs of frail aged
  • An awareness of the services that are available in the community
  • The ability to build good relationships with clients and service providers
  • The ability to advocate for the needs of clients
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Your own car to provide transport if needed

You will also demonstrate a positive and professional “can-do” attitude, excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to work equally well as a member of a team or working alone.
