UnitingCare Wesley is looking to appoint a ‘Café Attendant’ on a part time basis, to operate its newly established Café within its Wesley House Aged Care Facility. The Café operates across 7 days and provides a place for residents, visitors and staff to grab a quick coffee, enjoy a sandwich or cake or just relax and read the paper with their favourite brew. We require a competent professional with excellent customer service and café operation experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide excellent customer service at all times with a strong sales focus
  • Cash handling, operating the till and balancing it on a daily basis
  • Food and beverage preparation and service
  • General Café maintenance including clearing tables, washing up, changing bins and mopping floors
  • Understanding of modified diet requirements
  • Filling drink fridge and restocking shelves
  • Assisting with ordering supplies
  • Experience handling customer complaints and queries
  • Maintain all equipment in good working order at all times

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Prior experience in café operations including expresso coffee and food preparation or related field is desirable
  • Retail/Cash handling experience
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Hygiene standards
  • Knowledge and compliance with work, health and safety legislation
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, and maintain a high standard of work with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate positively to all people
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Enthusiasm with the ability to create a fun and friendly atmosphere
